Meet Kristine

Kristine – Leading Change, Inspiring Hope

“I want to be a light in this sometimes-dark world, to change systems that aren’t working.”

Kristine's life is woven with the threads of resilience and transformation. As a mother of four children and four grandchildren, her journey has been marked by overcoming adversity and emerging stronger, surrounded by a network of support.

Facing homelessness due to domestic and sexual violence, Kristine sought refuge and embarked on a path of restoration and healing.

“I hadn't worked for quite awhile as I was trying to recuperate my life and didn't really know who I was and what I was capable of, I had that taken away through DV.”

Engaging in various programs offered by remarkable services, she encountered wonderful individuals who played pivotal roles in her journey toward survival and recovery.

“ At the time, I felt quite low, and I was anxious about the future, and didn't have too much hope about it, but after Dress for Success I can see a huge future, and I have been able to step into places I wouldn't have before!”

The introduction to Dress for Success came through the charity Broken to Brilliant, and Kristine received further referral support from a Member of Parliament. Emphasising the importance of seeking supportive services and self-care, she encourages others to make time for themselves, maintain faith, hope, and accept help, assuring that they will overcome challenges.

“Financial Independence is very important, I hadn't seen that before being in a DV relationship and having finances controlled, it’s taken a while to work through that”

‘And now I feel worthy to have stepped into employment.’ It has given me confidence to move forward and run towards the future.”

In her aspirations for the future, Kristine envisions being a beacon of light in a sometimes-dark world. Her goals include challenging and changing systems that aren't working, advocating for the safety and success of every child, and connecting with kind and amazing individuals.

As of today, Kristine has evolved into an author, speaker, and consultant. She serves as the Director of ‘Broken to brilliant’ charity and works at ‘Womens Health and Equality Qld’ in a lived experience role and as a facilitator of ‘The healing Journey’.
